Applying the Item-Descriptor Matching Method to Alternate Assessments: Evaluating Panelist’s Experiences - by Kelley Wheeler

This paper analyzes panelists’ evaluations of the Item-Descriptor (ID) Matching standard setting method when applied to a statewide alternate assessment for students with significant cognitive disabilities. The ID Matching method was designed to reduce the cognitive load placed on panelists as they make the judgments necessary for recommending achievement levels or cut scores. Results of panelist process surveys are discussed to evaluate panelists’ confidence in the process and recommend improvements to implementation of the method.
