The Association of Test Publishers (ATP) has announced that Saed Qunbar from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro has been awarded the first ever Graduate Student Research Award. ACS is very pleased to have been a co-sponsor for this award, along with Ascend Learning. The award will provide funding for Saed to attend and present at the upcoming ATP conference in Orlando.
Saed’s research is focused on recommender systems that are typically used in marketing by training machine learning models to efficiently predict user preferences. These systems have the potential to facilitate the creation of personalized instruments that can be utilized with a relatively heterogenous group in the delivery of assessments. Saed will be presenting on Tuesday at 4:15 at the conference. The ATP website has additional information (http://www.innovationsintesting.org/scholarship.aspx).
